Dan Reineman

TEDxMonterey “Sea Change” MC
Recovering Marine Biologist
Oceanophile

Until recently, Dan spent his whole life in, on or under the water, beginning with his beach-centric childhood in San Diego. A marine biologist by training, his research generally focused on how environmental health is measured and he has conducted field work all over California and Hawaii, as well as the Turks and Caicos, Bahamas, Panama, the Galápagos, and Antarctica. In 2009 he left the Pacific and moved to Washington, DC for a Knauss Fellowship with Monterey’s own Congressman Sam Farr. There he worked to craft and promote an ocean agenda in the US Congress. He came to Stanford’s Emmett Interdisciplinary Program in Environment and Resources in 2010 and has since been geeking out on coastal conservation in pursuit of a doctorate.
