TEDxMontereyWomen Dec 6. Event Details
To help you get ready for the day here are some helpful details:
|Monterey Institute of International Studies
499 Pierce St. (between Jefferson and Franklin Streets)
Monterey, CA 93940
Directions to MIIS – Download campus map and directions (pdf)
|PARKING||Parking around the Institute is limited.|
|The City of Monterey is very well known for its efficient parking enforcement! Here are some tips for locating parking near the auditorium.|
|1. Parking will be available in Monterey Institute lots after 3:30pm on Dec 6, on a first-come, first-served basis. Campus Security will NOT walk the lots and ticket cars that do not have MIIS parking permits. Orange cones will identify entrances to each available Institute parking lot identifying as available for TEDxMonterey parking.|
|2. There are also three City of Monterey parking lots around our campus. Parking lot 4 at the corner of Van Buren and Franklin, parking lot 8 in front of Casa Fuente, and parking lot 7, which is across Pacific Street. Lots 4 and 8 have ticket machines. Lot 8 is a metered lot.|
|3. Review the MIIS campus map (above), which shows both Institute parking and City parking lots 4 & 8. City parking lot 7 is not listed on this map, but it is directly across Pacific Street from Casa Fuente (Building #17 on the campus map).

|WHAT TO EXPECT||Whether this is your first TEDx or your tenth, you can expect to enjoy an evening of ideas inspired by our invited presenters, TED talks recorded live from the 2013 TEDWomen event, and of course you and everyone involved! In the TED spirit we encourage you to sit with people you may not know and to enjoy the networking reception so that you have ample opportunity to talk with and meet new people. Adults chaperoning youth should be mindful of their young guests throughout the event.|
|We will be photographing the entire event and video recording our presenters for the web. Signs will be posted indicating that your attendance at the event releases TEDxMonterey to use your likeness on our website, or other event related materials. If you do not want to be recorded, please respectfully decline invitations to be photographed by our event photographers and do not sit near video camera locations.|
|WHAT TO BRING||1. Comfortable clothes and a Jacket. Please be sure dress comfortably. The weather is looking to be sunny, but Monterey is notorious for our capricious weather.|
|2. Your Ticket(s)! Bring a paper or electronic copy of your ticket for yourself. Your ticket will be registered at check-in.|
|3. Completed Media Release Forms (required for youth under 18). Download Youth Multimedia Release (pdf)|
|WIFI NETWORK||Wireless Internet will be available in the auditorium and around campus. Guest access details will be provided at registration.|
|MOBILE DEVICES & SOCIAL MEDIA||While the “T” in TEDx stands for technology, our experience suggests that your TEDxMonterey experience will resonate even more with everyone’s undivided attention while you are in the main auditorium.|
|If you plan to bring your mobile devices (phones and tablets), please be considerate and mindful of others. Be sure to turn off your ringer once you find your seat.|
|A social media zone will be designated for social media mavens in the upper left back of the auditorium. Our event hashtags are #TEDxWomen and #tedxmonterey.|
