Back in 1994, Seaside resident, Mary Wilson, a Master Gardener, saw the corner of Fremont and Canyon Del Rey, as the entry into the city. And what she saw was blight. Blight with potential to be something beautiful. Mary rolled up her sleeves and got to work, transforming the gateway to Seaside from a corner full of broken glass, garbage, and blight, to a thriving garden with drought-resistant plants, that transformed the corner of Canyon Del Rey and Fremont Blvds. from an eyesore to a stunning, colorful, and eye-catching open green space. Mary helped to create the Seaside Green Team, who dedicate themselves to preserving this space. She is also one of the first people who has dedicated herself to beautifying open, green spaces in Seaside. Mary is Awesome!
